Guide For Buying
Here are the basic guides for buying goods at Discount Kids.

Read Listings Carefully
This may seem like a fairly obvious thing to say but you would be surprised how many people do not read listings carefully. Before buying any item on the site read the description carefully and take a close look at the images of the product.

All sellers at discount kids are expected to describe items for sale accurately and show actual images of the goods where possible.

If you are unsure of anything then log in and ask the seller a question before you buy.

Please remember that the prices you see include postage to UK addresses. If you are not from the UK the seller may charge you additional postage directly.

DO NOT CLICK BUY UNLESS YOU INTEND TO BUY
Once you click the buy now button you are making a digital contract with the buyer to purchase their item. We take this very seriously if you offer to buy items and you repeatedly do not honor that agreement we will delete your account and may ban you from signing up again either by email address or IP address.

Remember This Is A Private Agreement
Please remember in accordance with our terms and conditions that any transaction you conduct on this site is between you and the seller, therefore we will not get involved directly in any disputes. We may, if we receive consistent complaints about a buyer or seller terminate their account so you can if you wish report a member to us if they have treated you badly.

Paying For Goods

Paying by Paypal
This is one of our recommended payment methods. If you use paypal all transactions between you and the seller are logged and recorded and Paypal also have a buyer protection policy to cover you should something go wrong. If you do not have an account you can sign up for Paypal free here.

Paying by Postal Order
Some Sellers may accept postal orders. Make sure you keep the receipt for the postal order the post office gives you. This way if the seller claims you did not send the order you can check whether or not it has been cashed. We recommend that you make the postal order payable to the person selling the goods.

Paying by Credit Card
If you do not have a Paypal account or do not want one you can pay by debit or credit card using paypal without having an account. if you do not have a credit card for what ever reason see our pre-paid credit card page in the "recommended" section on the left.  This is an excellent Mastercard with a 100% acceptance rate and no interest as it is prepaid.

Allow Time For Delivery
Once you have bought an item make sure you allow time for it's delivery. In an ideal world all items will be sent to you the next day by the seller and arrive the day after, however remember some people do have busy lives and may not get to the post office for a few days. If your item has not arrived in two weeks we suggest the following course of action:
  1. First contact the seller and politely let them know you have not received the item then give them a day or so to reply. If they have followed our advice and sent the item recorded delivery they can trace the item and find out what happened and prove to you that they sent it. Remember if an item does not turn up it may not be the sellers fault it could have been lost in the post. Worst case they can claim from Royal Mail and refund you for your purchase. In most cases you can settle problems just using this method.

  2. If after 3 days the seller has not responded to you send them one last email warning them that you will persue a refund if they do not reply.

  3. If you get no response to this email then you should either file a dispute with paypal for a refund or contact your credit card company and do a charge back for the item. This should only be done as a last resort.

If you are treated badly by a seller do let us know.  If we get repeated complaints for a seller we may delete their account.

Returning Items
If you receive an item that is damaged or not as described you should do the following:
  1. Contact the seller first and let them know you are dissatisfied. They may ask you to return the goods for a full refund or offer to refund part of your purchase price. Always try to come to a mutual agreement with the seller first.

  2. If the seller agrees to refund you you first need to return the item to them. Send it by recorded delivery so that you can prove they received it then await your refund.

  3. If you get nowhere with the seller then file a dispute with Paypal or your credit card company and await your refund. We recommend that if either of these bodies refund you, just to cover yourself you should then return the goods to the seller. This is the honest and ethical thing to do.

In short try to be ethical and honest with buyers, do not get angry and communicate. Many times if people are cordial with each other any disputes can be settled quickly and easily.
