Rules For Selling
Here are the basic rules for posting a listing at Discount Kids. The Main Listing
List In Appropriate Categories Always try and list your item in the most accurate category available this will improve your chances of selling it. Feel free to list it in more than one category as long as it fits in that category. Add Images Remember we let you add up to 4 images for each ad there is no charge for extra photos or gallery images here. Listings with images have much more chance of selling. For example if you are selling a game, show the outside of the box and the inside with all the pieces. Listings with two or more photos tend to sell better. Strictly NO Links Or Mentions Of Other Sites Please note you may not include links to your ebay listings or products on any other website. Discount Kids offers both a links directory or very reasonable advertising rates if you have your own website and wish to promote it here. Please do not advertise other sites via links or text in your discount kids listings. Copying And Pasting Listings Please do not copy and paste listings from ebay or microsoft word into the editor at Discount Kids. These sites embed code in their pages that will be also be copied and can produce very strange results on your listings. The add listing page has a built in text editor so you can make text bold or change its colour. Our recommendation is keep it short sweet and descriptive. People do not like scrolling through reams of description before finding the buy button. Also avoid text colours that may make your listing sore on the eyes or hard to read. Postage And Packing Costs This is one area where we differ from traditional auctions or classified's. We DO NOT ALLOW excessive postage and packing here. You can specify what you want for the item you are selling so there is no need to make a profit on the postage. We ask that you work out your postage costs and add them to the price you want for the item. We do not separate the two here because it means that buyers pay one simple price including the delivery. Standard Postage Methods Without exception you should send ANYTHING you sell to the buyer at very least by recorded delivery (signed for). While we do not get involved in disputes between buyers and sellers we WILL delete the account of any seller who consistently does not deliver their sold items in a timely manner. If a buyer complains about you we will ask you to send us the tracking number from your recorded delivery receipt so we can check the item was delivered to the buyer. If you cannot provide this we may have to take the word of the buyer that they did not receive the goods. If that buyer paid by Paypal and they launch a dispute then Paypal will ask for PROOF OF DELIVERY always remember when dealing with us or Paypal PROOF OF POSTING MEANS NOTHING! You need to be able to prove the item was DELIVERED! Recorded delivery costs just 70p on top of normal postage and brings piece of mind for both you and the buyer. You can prove an item was delivered and if it does get lost in the post you can claim back the value of the lost item from Royal Mail. Valuables Postage Methods If the item you are selling is worth more than £34 we strongly recommend you send it special delivery. Recorded delivery (signed for) only covers you up to £34 and is sent in the normal mail like any other letter or parcel, therefore there is always a chance it can be lost in the post. With Special Delivery you are covered up to £500 and can add extra compensation if the item is worth more. In addition Special Delivery items are not treated like normal parcels, every time they move from one person to another within Royal Mail they are zapped using bar codes so that you can trace EXACTLY where your letter is. Which ever postage method you use always pack your items as well as you can, especially if there is a chance they could be damaged in the post. Counterfeit & Style Copies Let us be clear on this as there is a difference. Counterfeit We do NOT allow counterfeit goods or copied cd's etc on this site. Any person found selling such items will have their account deleted and we may forward their details to the relevant authorities. When we say counterfeit we mean goods that are designed to mislead people into thinking they are genuine branded items , or copies of copyrighted digital media. Style Copies Style copies are acceptable EG "Versace style handbag" as long as they do not contain fake Versace branding or logos and you state clearly in your description that they are styled copies. Refunds If someone you sold to asks for a refund for what ever reason, we recommend for the sake of a few pounds you refund them. Just ask them to return the goods to you by recorded delivery and when you get them back issue a refund of the purchase price. Why should you do this??? A few reasons:
Finally make sure you make yourself aware of our easy to understand terms of service by signing up or posting an ad you are legally agreeing to these. |
